Ukraine's Vasyl Lomachenko celebrates victory over Soonchul Han of South Korea in the gold medal Lightweight (60 kilogram) boxing final of the 2012 London Olympic Games at the ExCel Arena on Aug. 12 in London.
Ukraine’s Vasyl Lomachenko won his second straight Olympic boxing gold medal on Aug. 12, completing his domination of the London lightweights with a 19-9 victory over South Korea's Han Soon-chul.
Lomachenko is the unofficial pound-for-pound king of amateur boxing after following up his featherweight gold in Beijing with two world championships. He is now the first two-time gold medal boxer in Ukraine's Olympic history.
Lomachenko was tested much more in his previous two fights in London than in the gold-medal bout. Han is a veteran amateur who had never done this well in an international tournament.
Lomachenko joined gold-medal winning teammate Oleksandr Usyk, who conquered the heavyweight division on Aug. 11.
