Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has congratulated two Ukrainian Paralympic athletes – judo athlete Davyd Khorava and swimmer Natalia Prolohayeva – on winning gold medals at the XIV Paralympic Games in London.
"Ukraine is proud of the victory of its athletes who have won high awards on the first day of the competition," the head of state said in a letter of congratulations on Friday, Aug. 31.
Yanukovych noted that Ukrainian Paralympic athletes had demonstrated their superior skill and desire to win. He also expressed confidence that the gold medals were "a beautiful start of the successful performance of our athletes at the Paralympics."
The president wished the champions good health, new sporting achievements and brilliant victories in future.
Ukraine has currently won two gold, two silver and four bronze medals at the London Paralympics.
