You're reading: 17-year-old Ukrainian citizen drowns in Bulgaria

A male Ukrainian citizen has drowned while on holiday in Bulgaria, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has reported.

“A Ukrainian citizen born in 1996 drowned at a resort complex in the city of Varna on July 18 this year,” Director of the Information Policy Department of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Yevhen Perebyinis said at a briefing on Tuesday.

He added that the young man had been holidaying in Bulgaria with a group of children from Kyiv.

The Ukrainian consul has already met with the parents of the deceased. Ukraine’s consulate is providing assistance in obtaining the necessary documents and working out the issue of transporting the body to Ukraine, which is scheduled to occur on July 23.
