Avangard, the largest producer of eggs in Ukraine, has sent the first batch of egg products to the European Union.

“There is the first delivery, a small one,” chairman of the holding board of directors Oleh Bakhmatiuk said at the investment conference “A Fresh Look at Ukraine” organized by SP Advisors investment company, held in Kyiv.

He noted that the quota on duty-free imports to the EU of this category of produce is so small that the company could cover it with a one-month volume of production.

“It is extremely difficult to enter this market, but we see its perspective. If to talk frankly about priorities, we have grown by 40 percent on the market of the Middle East, by 30 percent on the Asian market and are only beginning to grow on the market of the European Union,” the head of the agricultural holding said, noting high prices for egg produce in the EU.

As reported, according to the EU’s autonomous trade preferences, Ukraine can this year export 3,000 tonnes of dry and liquid egg products. However, according to experts of the poultry industry, this figure is the equivalent weight of raw eggs, the volume of final produce is about 10 times less.
