This year is crucial forlaunching new contractual relations between the EU and the most advanced Eastern Partnership (EaP) countries, the Steering Committee of the EaP Civil Society Forum has said in a statement issued on Monday. In particular, the signature of the Association Agreement (AA) with Ukraine at the forthcoming EaP summit in Vilnius will be a breakthrough paving the way to irreversible changes in Eastern Europe, the statement said.

The Steering Committee urged Ukraine to take steps to meet the requirements listed in the Council’s Conclusions of December last year, adding that “any substantial delay of the process could derail the entire EaP policy and demobilise democratic and reformist forces in the partner countries.”
