You're reading: Euronews: Armed group takes control of government buildings in Ukraine’s Crimea region

A group of unidentified armed men have taken control of the regional government offices and parliament building in Simferopol, in the Crimea region of Ukraine. 

The site was the scene of Wednesday’s scuffles between Tatar groups and pro-Russian supporters.

Local Tatar leader, Refat Chubarov posted that the government
buildings had been occupied by men in uniforms with no “recognisable
insignia.”

Following the fall of President Viktor Yanukovych divisions within Ukraine have come to the fore.
