Ukraine will face international condemnation if Kyiv ignores the remarks of the Council of Europe experts concerning the investigation into the events on Maidan, the tragedy in Odesa in 2014, Director of Human Rights, Special Advisor to the Council of Europe's Secretary General for Ukraine Christos Giakoumopoulos has stated.

“The work of the International Advisory Group is a supporting process for Ukrainian authorities. The idea is to warn the authorities investigating the events on Maidan and in Odesa that there are certain deficiencies that violate the European Convention on Human Rights. Both reports, those relatively Maidan and Odesa, stated that there are such violations of the basic human rights. The Ukrainian authorities on their part must take into account the position of the International Advisory Group and take corrective actions where this is possible,” the European diplomat said in an interview with the Dzerkalo Tyzhnia. The report of the International Advisory Group of the Council of Europe published this week says Ukrainians do not believe in justice in the cases regarding the murders on Maidan and in Odesa, since over a year and a half Ukraine has been unable to investigate into those tragic events.
