 Ukraine faced fresh unrest on its eastern flank on April 12, after a group of armed men took control of a local police office in the town of Slovyansk. Local officials held talks with the men in camouflage who seized the building overnight, according to local media reports, as Arsen Avakov, interior minister, said he had despatched special forces to the scene.
