Russia at this point is not demanding from Ukraine the repayment of a $3 billion debt, although the payment is due, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

“This is related to our readiness and your agreement at this point not to demand the repayment of Ukraine’s debt to Russia, although the conditions for these payments have already been formed,” Lavrov told a press conference following a meeting with his Israeli counterpart Avigdor Lieberman.

Lavrov also recalled that Russia is making some other steps to support the Ukrainian economy.

“This involves the supply of gas at preferential prices, the supply of electricity at Russian domestic prices, and the supply of coal without a pre-payment,” Lavrov said.

Lavrov also recalled that Russia supplies considerable amounts of humanitarian aid to southeastern Ukraine and has accepted a large group of refugees from Ukraine on its territory.
