Chechen Republic head Ramzan Kadyrov has rejected as “absurd” reports that Chechens are fighting on the side of pro-Russian rebels in the east Ukrainian town of Sloviansk. Two days earlier, an unnamed Ukrainian commander had said on May 5 that Chechens were fighting alongside the insurgents. Acting Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov repeated that allegation in a post on his Facebook page.
