Pro-Russian rebels have withdrawn from a front-line village near the strategic port city of Mariupol. Ukrainian military spokesman Oleksandr Motuzyanyk said on July 3 that the separatists "withdrew to the east, leaving the settlement of Shyrokyne completely destroyed."
