You're reading: Schulz says Crimea’s annexation won’t stop Ukraine’s European integration

"The illegal and unlawful annexation of Crimea by Russia cannot stop Ukraine on its way towards Europe and will not make us stop considering Ukraine as our ally in the reinforcement of our common European values," Schulz said before negotiations with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko in Kyiv on July 3.

According to him, one of practical manifestations of this position will be the signing of a memorandum on cooperation between the European Parliament and the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on July 3.

In turn, Poroshenko noted that Ukraine valued the EP’s position on the immediate return of occupied Crimea to the country after its annexation in March 2014.
