You're reading: Three Ukrainian tourists missing in Nepal after landslide in mountains

Kyiv, May 5 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Three Ukrainian tourists are missing after landslide near the city of Pokhara (Nepal), the press service of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has reported.

The press service said that at around 0630 Kyiv time on May 5 near Pokhara a landslide occurred and killed five people. Over 50 people are missing.

The Ukrainian Embassy to India said that three Ukrainian citizens are missing. They were part of a group of Ukrainian tourists (four people) spending holidays in the accident region.

Rescue work is underway. The government of Nepal is monitoring rescue works.

The Ukrainian Embassy to India in cooperation with the honorary consul of Ukraine to Nepal has got in touch with the rescue coordination center on the site.

“The Ukrainian Embassy to India and the department of the consulate service of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry are monitoring the accident,” Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Oleksandr Dykusarov said.
