Victor Yanukovych was sworn in as Ukraine’s new President today and immediately lashed out at the legacy of the pro-Western Orange revolution. He warned that Ukraine was threatened by “colossal debts, poverty, a collapsing economy, corruption” as Yuliya Tymoshenko, his defeated rival in the presidential election, snubbed his inauguration and taunted his failure to sack her as Prime Minister.
