As a part of the revival of sports infrastructure and according to the common state social program for the development of physical education and sports for 2013-2017, Ukraine plans restore 500 sport fields and 50 swimming-pools every year, first Deputy Youth and Sport Minister Serhiy Hluschenko has said on the Tonis TV channel.

According to him, 50% of financing will be provided by central and 50% by local budgets.

“We pass the initiative to the local authorities, which should
demonstrate in practice their desire to revive sport facilities. That’s
why they should be so kind as to provide 50% [of the finances], and then
the central authorities will be your partners,” the deputy minister
said.

He said the authorities are going to attract money through
state-private partnerships for the larger-scale sports projects,
promising tax breaks for business.

“The first step on this way has already been taken. The Verkhovna
Rada adopted the law on land tax exemptions for entrepreneurs who build
sport facilities. There are 59 such facilities in Ukraine. These are
Olympic centers and facilities where the national team is trained.
Moreover, now we’re preparing a bill on the creation of favorable
conditions to invest in the sector,” the first deputy minister said.

According to him, the building of the sports complexes is a profitable business project.

“For example, all six giant physical-sports complexes will be built
100% with investments. The state will pay in no money,” Hluschenko said.
