Kharkiv - A postal parcel containing ammunition has been detected and seized at a post office in the center of Kharkiv during a joint operation of the Ukrainian Security Service and the police, the press service of Kharkiv region's prosecutor's office reported.

“A postal parcel containing 2,000 cartridges has been seized at an office of LLC Nova Poshta. It weighed 27 kilograms. The ammunition was sent by post under the disguise of spare parts,” a service source told Interfax-Ukraine.

A criminal inquiry was opened under part 1, article 263 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code (illegal ammunition turnover) and the ammunition was impounded.

Nova Poshta offers express delivery and transportation of cargo. It has the second widest, after the state operator Ukrposhta, network of post offices (about 1,400) and representative offices (more than 700) across Ukraine. The company was founded in 2001.
