Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) Secretary Andriy Parubiy has denied reports about the alleged withdrawal of Russian troops from the border with Ukraine.

“The statement that Russian troops have been pulled back from the border is untrue,” he said at a briefing in Kyiv on Friday, July 4.

Parubiy said that up to 40,000 Russian servicemen had currently been deployed near the border with Ukraine.

“There was no pullback of troops, but quite the contrary, there was a [troop] rotation,” he said.
