You're reading: Aksionov says new Western sanctions against Crimea do not change anything

The new sanctions imposed on Crimea by Western countries in fact duplicate the earlier ones, self proclaimed-head of Crimean administration Sergei Aksionov said.

“They introduced in fact the maximum possible sanction regime on the first days of the Crimean spring. Western vessels have not called at Crimean ports and Western airlines have not visited our airfields from the first days,” Aksionov told journalists in Simferopol in commenting on a new package of sanctions against Crimea that took effect in the U.S. and Canada on Dec.20.

Aksionov branded the new restrictions as “empty noise.”

“It looks like they have nothing useful to do,” Aksionov said.
