The Locum of the Kyiv Metropolitan Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate), Metropolitan of Chernivtsi and Bukovyna, Chairman of the all-Ukrainian Council of Churches and religious organizations Onufriy has confirmed that the all-Ukrainian Council of Churches and religious organizations accepts the legitimacy of the formed government agencies in Ukraine.

“Once again we confirm the legitimacy of the government agencies
formed by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and officials appointed by the
Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, acting President of Ukraine
Oleksandr Turchynov and the Ukrainian government,” reads the statement
of the Council of Churches, which was distributed on Saturday, in
response to the decision of the Russian Federation Council on March 1.

The statement also contains the appeal to Russian authorities “to
refrain from military or any other intervention into Ukrainian internal
affairs, if it’s not foreseen by the international law and bilateral
agreements.”

“Russian authorities must realize their responsibility before God and
humanity for possible irreparable consequences of the military conflict
on Ukrainian soil. Ukrainian people have friendly and fraternal
feelings towards Russian people. Ukrainian citizens don’t wish for the
hostility to stir up. We want to keep building fraternal relationships
with Russia as a sovereign and independent country,” reads the
statement.
