Kharkiv - Another Lenin monument was dismantled in the town of Derhachi, Kharkiv region, in the early hours of Sept. 29, the press service for the regional division of the Svoboda party reported, citing Volodymyr Bezruk, the head of the Derhachi district administration.

‘Obviously, Derhachi patriots were somewhat inspired by the demolition of the Lenin monument in Kharkiv and they did the same in our town. There should be no such idols on the territory of Ukraine. Lenin is absolutely not a person that needs to be perpetuated,’ the press service quoted Bezruk as saying.

According to earlier reports, nationalists took down a Lenin monument in Kharkiv’s Freedom Square in the late hours of Sept. 28. The police opened a criminal case, but promptly closed it after the region’s governor Ihor Baluta signed a back-dated order to demolish the monument.
