You're reading: Yanukovych says 1025th anniversary of Baptism of Rus to be marked all over Ukraine

 All residential areas of Ukraine will mark the 1025th anniversary of the Day of the Baptism of the Rus, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said. 

“We have to mark the 1025th anniversary at the highest level. This remarkable date will be marked in all villages, towns, and districts,” he said at a meeting with members of the organizing committee of the events to mark the 1025th anniversary of the Day of the Baptism of Rus.

The president expressed hope that Christian churches, state agencies, and local governments would unite their efforts to organize the events.

“I think that the heads and delegations of Christian churches should attend these events,” Yanukovych said.

The president also demanded that there be tolerance during the celebration and that all events be well organized. He also asked the organizing committee to pay special attention to Christian cultural heritage, monuments, and to organize the work of exhibitions, and museums, etc.

Yanukovych also proposed to hold a conference on historical and spiritual heritage of the dialogue between the state and the church with the participation of scientists and experts.
