Around 30 people, involved in the shooting in central Kharkiv overnight into Saturday, have been detained, Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov has said.

“Following the night shooting of radicals in Kharkiv. The situation stabilized by morning. Criminal experts are working at the scene. Around 30 people from both conflict sides have been detained. Two people have been killed and several, including a severely-injured policeman, have been injured. Weapons have been seized from both parties. Investigative proceedings are being held,” Avakov posted on his Facebook page.

People, who barricaded themselves in the building at Rymarska Street where Prosvyta and Ukrainian Patriot offices are, have agreed to exit and lay arms down only after several hours of negotiations involving the Kharkiv Regional State Administration head, city mayor, leadership of the Ukrainian Interior Ministry Main Department for the Kharkiv region and Kharkiv prosecutor, a source in the law enforcement authorities said.

“By 4:30 a.m.- 4:40 a.m. everyone exited [the building] and got into a police van. They have surrendered arms,” the source said.
