You're reading: Around 8,000 Ukrainian officers sided with enemy in Crimea, Donbas

Some 5,000 law enforcement officers and around 3,000 military personnel have taken the enemy's side, says Anatoliy Matios, Ukraine's Deputy Prosecutor General and Military Prosecutor General.

“At the moment, we have the lists and are gathering evidence against those 5,000 law enforcers and around 3,000 troops who sided with the enemy,” he said at a briefing in Kyiv on Aug. 13.

Some of them are now in the annexed Crimea, Matios said.

“All this data will be accumulated in one case file, both over the starting of a military conflict in Ukraine and over the armed aggression carried out by the Russian Federation. And that is the grounds for submitting the evidence base with international institutions,” the military prosecutor general said.
