You're reading: Arseniy Yatseniuk demands dismissal of entire vertical of Zakarpattia customs

Following events in Mukacheve, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk insists on the dismissal of all employees of the Zakarpattia customs service and on the sending of customs officials from other regions to the oblast.

“Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk has ordered Roman Nasirov, chairman of the State Fiscal Service, to dismiss all employees of the Zakarpattia customs (branch) of the State Fiscal Service, from the head of the customs and top customs officials to regular employees. The prime minister has ordered that customs officials from other regions be sent to the region to ensure the operation of customs,” the press service for the Cabinet of Ministers reported on Monday.

Yatseniuk has also ordered that the Interior Ministry investigate smuggling and abuse in the Zakarpattia customs service and open criminal cases based on the results of the investigation.

According to the organization Right Sector, which is banned in Russia, the conflict involving a shooting and causalities in Mukacheve, Zakarpattia region, was caused by the rampant smuggling in the region, which has been protected by law enforcement officials.
