You're reading: Artillery fire, blasts heard in Donetsk

Last night in Donetsk was not quiet, and artillery fire and explosions have been heard in the city, especially in its central districts, since 03:00 a.m. local time, city authorities have reported.

The Petrovsky district was routinely shelled at about 05:00 a.m., resulting in the partial destruction of No. 17 Chuhuyevska Street and the complete destruction of a maintenance building, the city council reported.

The situation in Donetsk was described as extremely tense as of 09:30 a.m. local time.

At the same time, public transport and utility services are working normally, and maintenance crews are continuing repair operations on damaged infrastructure networks in the Kuibyshevsky, Kyivsky, and Petrovsky districts.

‘It is still impossible to determine the real number of points where gas pipelines have been damaged in the northern part of the city, where combat operations have not stopped,’ it said.

As of Oct. 1 morning, 4,348 entities, including 14 apartment buildings, 3,233 private homes, and 29 enterprises, remained without natural gas supply, and 143 substations were deprived of power supplies.
