The European Union hopes that the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, will pass the bills necessary for the signing of the Association Agreement this week, as well as resolve the problem with selective justice.

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton said this at a press conference in Brussels on Monday following a meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council.

“We know that the Ukrainian parliament will discuss and we hope this week it will pass two main bills – on the parliamentary elections and on reform of the public prosecution system. The remaining issue is selective justice… We believe that it also has to be settled,” Ashton said.

She also expressed the hope that the forthcoming summit in Vilnius will bring results.
