Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott has suggested sending a civilian police force numbering up to 50 people to Ukraine's Donetsk region to guard the scene of the crash of the Boeing-777 of Malaysian Airlines thus securing the work of the expert commission and saving the material evidence, the press service of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko reports.

During his contact with Poroshenko on Wednesday Abbot said Australia would want to get the position of experts to finally support the conclusions that were already made on the basis of the previous analysis of remote monitoring and its understanding of the situation.

Poroshenko thanked for the initiative and assured Abbot of his readiness to promote an international study. He also promised to discuss the question of a police mission at his meeting with the foreign ministers of Australia and the Netherlands who will be visiting Kyiv on Thursday, July 24.
