You're reading: Avtomaidan activists hold action outside businessman Akhmetov’s house in Donetsk

Activists of from the Avtomaidan mobile anti-government movement held a car rally outside the house of businessman Rinat Akhmetov in Donetsk, and urged him to bring influence to bear on Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych to stop the bloodbath in Ukraine.

As a correspondent of Interfax-Ukraine reported, the activists arrived in six cars decorated with flags of Ukraine and European Union, and tried to call on Akhmetov “to talk about Ukraine’s future,” but the latter failed to appear.

The activists called Akhmetov “the most authoritative person in Donbas” adding that he could convince Yanukovych to stop bloodbath and schedule early president’s elections.

The event, which was organized by the Donestk regional organization of the UDAR party, passed off peacefully.
