Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has attended the opening ceremony of the 30th Olympic Games in London, the press service of the Ukrainian government has reported.

The prime minister headed the Ukrainian delegation, which also included Minister of Education and Science, Youth and Sports Dmytro Tabachnyk, Head of the State Service for Youth and Sports Ravil Safiullin, deputy head of the State Service for Youth and Sports and a member of the Executive Committee of the National Olympic Committee, Vadym Sysiuk, chief of mission of the Olympic delegation in London and the director of the department of physical education and sports at the State Service for Youth and Sports, Nina Umanets, and others.

Azarov congratulated the Ukrainian national team that participated in a parade of delegations from 204 countries competing in the Olympics Games. Two-time Olympic medalist and judo athlete Roman Hontiuk carried Ukraine's flag.

A total of 245 athletes will represent Ukraine at the Olympics in 28 sports. The 2012 Summer Olympics will be held until August 12.

To send a russian-speaking old Soviet communist certainly does not improve the image of Ukraine in the west. And he was only sent because the desperate attempts of the presidential staff failed to arrange any meaningful meetings for Yanukovych in London. Western leaders are now avoiding the imbecile, ill-mannered thug, called the "president", by all means.
