Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov is considering the situation with a false report by a Ukrainian media source of the detention of Second Ukrainian President (1994-2005) Leonid Kuchma.

“The prime minister is considering this information and response will follow the consideration,” the premier’s spokesman Vitaliy Lukyanenko told an Interfax-Ukraine reporter on Monday, Feb.25.

Earlier, Kuchma wrote an open letter to the prime minister asking him to explain the situation with the publication of an untrue report about him in a Ukrainian media source.

“Dear Mykola Yanovych, I hope you will manage to answer this question,” reads the letter.

Earlier, some media reported that Kuchma had allegedly been detained at Zhuliany Kyiv International Airport.

Kuchma’s lawyer dismissed this information.

The press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine refused to comment on the issue.
