Ukrainian Premier Mykola Azarov has instructed the Finance Ministry, the Social Policy Ministry, and the Pension Fund to develop the simplest mechanism for payment of compensations to depositors of the former Soviet Sberbank.

"I’ve instructed the Finance Ministry, the Social Policy Ministry, and the Pension Fund to consult with the National Bank and develop the simplest mechanism for payments. The government will consider this mechanism next week, make a decision on it and start payments," he said while opening a meeting of the government on April 18.

Azarov also said that on April 17 he rejected a draft instruction on the mechanism of compensation and sent it for a revision, as the document did not meet the main target – to simplify the process of issuing compensations to the maximum.

Azarov was also dissatisfied with a proposal to issue Oschadbank’s cards with compensations.

"People should be free to choose how to receive compensations – in cash or on the card," the premier said.
