You're reading: Azarov says preparations for signing EU-Ukraine Association Agreement going well

Ukraine has demonstrated noticeable progress in the fulfillment of the European Union's requirements for the signing of the Association Agreement, and the preparations for the signing are going well, Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has said.

“Ukraine is actively fulfilling the agreements we reached with the EU. I think we will notice significant progress in the fulfillment of our agreements… I think the process of preparations is going well,” Azarov said at a meeting with Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt and Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski in Kyiv on Tuesday.

The Ukrainian prime minister noted that the government has approved the draft Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU and the document is being considered by other state agencies, following which it will be submitted to Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych.

In addition, Azarov said that the Ukrainian government is actively cooperating with the European Parliament’s observation mission of former EP President Pat Cox and former Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski, while the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine’s parliament, is considering the last bill of those necessary for European integration.
