The Ukrainian government could review the state budget for 2013 after the first quarter of 2013, Acting Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has said.

“We have every opportunity to review the state budget figures after
the first quarter of 2013,” the government’s press service quoted Azarov
as saying on Thursday.

He said that some ministries and departments, while planning the
budget for next year, had been “overly cautious” and somewhat
understated the figures.

He also said that the 2013 budget was an anti-crisis budget and that
its main task was to ensure the development of the Ukrainian economy
amid the global financial and economic crisis.

Azarov said he was satisfied that the parliament had passed the state
budget. He said that this would help the local authorities form local
budgets by the end of the year.

“This means that now all regions, cities and districts will host
sessions of regional, city and district councils, at which local budgets
will be approved. This will allow us to form all local budgets by the
end of the year,” he said.

As reported, on December 6, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the draft state budget for 2013.
