UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has stated the United Nations' readiness to assist in holding fair and transparent presidential elections in Ukraine.
“I also told Mr. President (the acting head of state Oleksandr Turchynov) that the United Nations stands ready to assist and promote the organization of future elections,” the secretary general said at a joint briefing with Acting Head of State, Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov in Kyiv on Friday.
He also stressed the need to do everything possible to ensure that the elections should be transparent and fair.
