Kyiv Post's Best of Kyiv 2010:Lufthansa

Whether it’s for competitive prices, quality service or the abundance of destinations that Lufthansa offers, Kyiv Post readers voted this German firm the best passenger airline of 2010.

Having offered the first flight from Kyiv to Frankfurt in 1991, it now runs five daily flights from Ukraine’s capital to Germany. It also flies from Donetsk and Lviv to Munich on a daily basis.

Out of their hub in Germany, Lufthansa can bring you to 82 countries with 205 flights. In 2010, Lufthansa added Bogota (Columbia), Bagdad (Iraq) and Pointe-Noire (Congo) to its destinations.

Even though 2010 was a slow year for most businesses, Lufthansa upgraded its fleet with four new Airbuses A380, invested in lounges at European airports and refurbished cabins. Miles & More loyalty cardholders – including 140,000 in Ukraine alone – can receive additional services from lunches to showers at Lufthansa’s lounges across Europe.

Last year also stood out for the integration of Austrian Airlines into the Lufthansa group. The merger benefits passengers who receive a single partner that can develop customized traveling solutions for them. Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines have merged their sales systems and representative offices across Ukraine, and further integration is under way.
