Sevastopol - The system of basing the Black Sea Fleet's surface ships and units will be fully restored in Sevastopol before December 2015, a Navy Central Headquarters representative told Interfax on Monday.

“The system of basing ships, vessels, submarines and supply units will be fully restored before the end of next year under the same principles that had existed here before the Black Sea Fleet’s division,” the source said.

Such is the logic of the exigency of further development of the Black Sea Fleet which is currently restoring its former positions at its central base, he said.

The first ones to return to their former location will be the ships from the 68th water area protection brigade, the source said. The ships used to go out of the bay into the open sea to fulfill their assignment within the shortest period of time. Currently, they are occupying a location at Yuzhnaya Bay, the former base of the 153rd brigade of 13 submarines.

“The re-basing of ships will be preceded by a study of the current status of the assets and their subsequent restoration and repair,” the Navy representative said.
