Kharkiv - An explosion occurred under a cargo train en route from the Osnova station to the town of Kupiansk at the Eskhar railway station, the village of Novopokrovka, Chuhuiv district of the Kharkiv region, on Nov. 9 evening.

The explosion occurred under the fifth carriage, the press service for the Kharkiv region’s administration reported. After the explosion, the train driver used energy brakes and the train came to a halt.

“No one was hurt in the accident […] The train was not derailed. Traces of the explosion, a damaged rail, were found under the 21st carriage,” the press service reported.

The train was composed of 58 carriages, of which seven were carrying clay and the rest were empty.

Other trains were diverted to other routes and there were no delays. Experts and maintenance teams worked at the site of the incident at night. The train was towed to a depot in the early hours of Nov. 9, the rails were fixed and operation of the railway resumed.
