The body of one of the Ukrainian soldiers who died in hospital in the Rostov region has been collected by his relatives, Ukrainian Consul General Vitaliy Moskalenko told Interfax-Ukraine in Rostov-on-Don on July 22.
“The body was handed over to the man’s relatives on July 21. They took
it away for burial. The question of handover of the second Ukrainian
soldier is still being decided,” the consul said.
Talks are taking place as to when and how Ukrainian representatives
can collect the soldiers currently held in hospitals in the Rostov
region, he said.
Twenty Ukrainian soldiers, including four in critical condition, were
admitted to a hospital in the town of Gukovo, Rostov region last week.
One of them died on July 21. Concurrently, two Ukrainian border guards
in critical condition were taken to a hospital in Kuibyshevo. One of
them died, the second one was transferred to a hospital in
Rostov-on-Don.
