Head of Kyiv City State Administration Volodymyr Bondarenko has submitted a statement of resignation to Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.

“I, using European experience and practices, am turning to the Ukrainian president with a statement of resignation, and he must decide,” he said at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine on June 10.

Bondarenko said that he had previously filed a statement of resignation as an lawmaker and that this statement had been satisfied: “Today I am not a Verkhovna Rada deputy due to my personal decision.”

“Today, I am appealing to the president with such a statement [of resignation as head of the Kyiv city administration] regarding his rights. If Petro Oleksiyovych [Poroshenko] deems it necessary to use my experience and practice in future work, he will decide where I should work, and with whom. I respect him, I have known him and cooperated with him for a long time, but I do not want to be a burden for newly elected Kyiv Mayor [Vitali Klitschko],” he said.

Bondarenko was appointed head of Kyiv City State Administration on March 7, 2014 by a decree of Ukraine’s interim President and Verkhovna Rada Chairman Oleksandr Turchynov.

On June 5, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said that he expected Poroshenko’s decree on combining the posts of the city mayor and the head of the Kyiv city administration.
