Moscow - The Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) has estimated the funds Russia needs to compensate for negative implications of the breakup with Ukrainian defense plants at 33 billion rubles, Kommersant quoted a Roscosmos official's letter as saying.

It will cost around 33 billion rubles to localize manufacturing by
2018, including more than 3.5 billion rubles that need to be spent this
year, the newspaper said. Until the funds are allotted, Roscosmos will
finance the import substitution via the reduction of spending on lesser
priority programs.

Earlier reports said Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has banned any kind of cooperation with Russia in the defense sector.

Roscosmos has not posted an official comment on its import substitution plans.
