Kharkiv – Brilliant Green dye was sprayed on Batkivschyna parliamentary faction MP Arsen Avakov near the entrance of the Court of Appeals of Kharkiv region, where Kharkiv's Kyivsky District Court hears the criminal case against former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko on the activities of the United Energy Systems of Ukraine (UESU) Corporation.

According to Avakov, it was the second attempt to pour Brilliant Green dye over him during Friday, Jan.18 – the first one was unsuccessful.

According to an Interfax-Ukraine reporter, the MP’s face was covered with Brilliant Green dye on the left, although his eyes were not affected.

Avakov said that at least two people sprayed Brilliant Green dye on him using medical syringes. He managed to catch a young woman and handed her over to the police.

He also said that earlier on Friday his colleague Oleksandr Abdullin also had Brillian Green dye thrown on him.

Two more MPs – Kostiantyn Bondarev and Oleksandr Abdullin – entered the courtroom both sprinkled with Brilliant Green dye.

“We did not manage to catch the attackers and the policemen were standing and laughing at us,” Bondarev said.

Avakov demanded that the prosecutor’s office open a criminal case on the incident.
