The European Parliament is ready to work on the simplification of the visa regime for Ukraine, Chair of the European Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee Elmar Brok has said.

“The more Ukrainian citizens, especially young people, visit Europe, the better,” the Ukrainian parliament’s press service quoted him as saying at a meeting with Verkhovna Rada Chairman Volodymyr Rybak in Kyiv on Thursday.

Rybak, in turn, said that Ukraine supports the European Parliament’s call for the further simplification of the visa regime for Ukrainian citizens, and noted the importance of the speedy completion by the European Parliament of all procedures required for the ratification of the agreement introducing amendments to the visa facilitation agreement between Ukraine and the EU, which was signed in July 2012.

Rybak also expressed hope that the European Parliament would consider amendments to the Schengen Borders Code without any further delay.
