The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine at its Wednesday sitting approved a bill of amendments to the Ukrainian law "On the bases of the national security of Ukraine" concerning the cyber security of Ukraine.

As the public relations department at Ukraine’s Interior Ministry reported on Wednesday, this bill is aimed at forming the bases of state policy in the cyber security sector of Ukraine, defining basic, real and potential threats of national cyber security, the main directions of state policy and the main functions of the subjects that ensure national security in this sphere.

In particular, the bill foresees the introduction of such fundamental notions as “cyber security” and “cyber space.”

“The specialists say that adoption of the bill lays the legal basis for the further rule-making activity at the legislative level aimed at creating and improving the national cyber security system and fighting cyber crime,” the report from the ministry’s press service reads.
