You're reading: Campaign to combat racism to be hold during Euro 2012

All the discriminatory and racial themed slogans and symbols will be controlled at all the Euro 2012 European Football Championship matches in Ukraine and Poland within the program "Respect the differences."

"The campaign "Respect the differences "will be hold in cooperation with UEFA’s longtime partner, the Football Against Racism in Europe network (FARE), related to it through the Never Again organization. Never Again will monitor incidents of discrimination through symbols and slogans. This procedure has been an important aspect of the FARE network’s work for a few past years during major international tournaments," according to UEFA’s official Web site.

The FARE representatives during Euro 2012 will get a certain number of tickets and accreditations, monitor the situation in the stands and prepare reports on violations for UEFA. In addition, the FARE network will conduct educational events and organize fans’ meetings in Poland and Ukraine.

Two FARE observers will be present at each tournament match. If possible, they will represent the countries, whose teams play in a particular match. Most monitors will be hired from the FARE network staff and various partner organizations.

The FARE is now seeking observers for Euro 2012. Details are available on the official FARE’s Web site. Applications are accepted until April 2.
