You're reading: CEC registers 127 candidates for parliamentary elections nominated by Strong Ukraine Party

The Central Election Commission (CEC) on Sept. 22 sitting registered 283 candidates from single-seat constituencies for the forthcoming parliamentary elections.

 A total of 127 candidates have been nominated from Sergiy Tigipko’s Strong Ukraine Party.

The CEC also registered three candidates each from New Policy Party, 5.10 Party and Democratic Alliance, and four persons from the Spravedlyvist (Justice) Party.

Besides, 143 self-nominated candidates were registered, in particular: 17 current Verkhovna Rada deputies: Hryhoriy Kaletnyk (constituency No. 18 in Vinnytsia region), Yakiv Bezbakh (No 24), Andriy Shypko (No. 35) and Dmytro Shpenov (No. 37, Dnipropetrovsk region), Serhiy Kliuyev (brother of ex-head of presidential administration Andriy Kliuyev on wanted list) and Ihor Shkyria (No. 46), Andriy Ponomariov (No. 61 Donetsk region), Volodymyr Lytvyn (No. 65, Zhytomyr region), Serhiy Kaltsev (No. 75) and Yevhen Kartashov (No. 76 Zaporizhia region), Oleh Kulinych (No. 147 Poltava region), Vitaliy Khomutynnyk (No. 171), Dmytro Shentsev (No. 176), Anatoliy Hirshfeld (No. 179) and Yevhen Murayev (No. 181 Kharkiv region), Volodymyr Saldo (No. 182) and Oleksandr Hereha (No. 192 Khmelnytsky region).

Besides, the CEC registered TV host Oleksiy Durnyev as a candidate in the constituency No. 135 of Odesa region.

In general the CEC registered 676 candidates from majority constituencies, of whom 503 are self-nominated candidates and 173 have been nominated by the political parties.

The extraordinary parliamentary elections were scheduled for Oct. 26.
