You're reading: CEC registers seven more presidential candidates, including Poroshenko, Tymoshenko

 The Central Election Commission (CEC) has registered leader of the Solidarity Party Petro Poroshenko, leader of the Batkivschyna Party Yulia Tymoshenko, leader of Ukraine's Communist Party Petro Symonenko, and leader of the Radical Party Oleh Liashko, who were nominated by their political forces, as candidates for Ukraine's presidency. The Central Election Commission made this decision at its meeting on March 31.

 In addition, the CEC registered MP Serhiy Vlasenko as Tymoshenko’s authorized representative on the commission.

The Central Election Commission also registered self-nominees MP Oleh Tsariov from the Party of Regions, former head of the Foreign Intelligence Service Mykola Malomuzh and a Kharkiv businessman, Andriy Hrynenko, as presidential candidates.

Thus, out of 24 people, who submitted a full package of documents and Hr 2.5 million deposit, twelve have been registered as presidential candidates.

The deadline for the registration of presidential candidates is April 4.

The presidential elections are scheduled for May 25.

A total of 18 candidates ran for the president in 2010.
