You're reading: CEC to consider Yanukovych’s registration as presidential candidate on Wednesday

The Central Election Commission (CEC) will consider the question of registering Regions Party leader Viktor Yanukovych as a presidential candidate at 1000 on Wednesday, the party's press service reported on Tuesday.

Yanukovych is expected to speak with journalists after his registration.

As reported, the Central Election Commission has now registered seven presidential candidates – lawyer Oleh Riabokon, Civil Position leader Anatoliy Hrytsenko, Front for Change leader Arseniy Yatseniuk, Communist Party leader Petro Symonenko People’s Party of Ukraine leader Volodymyr Lytvyn, banker Sergiy Tigipko and lawmaker Inna Bohoslovska.

The election of the Ukrainian president is scheduled for January 17, 2010.
