You're reading: Central bank’s deputy governor dismissed under lustration law

Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) Borys Prykhodko has been dismissed under the newly adopted lustration law.

“NBU’s Deputy Governor Borys Prykhodko has been dismissed under Part 2 of the Final and Transitional Provisions of the Lustration Law. An order to dismiss him was issued on Oct. 22, 2014,” the NBU wrote on its Facebook page.

As was reported, Prykhodko was detained by prosecutors on July 31, he was later put under arrest and kept in a detention center.

Prykhodko is accused of the misappropriation or theft of property through misuse of office (Part 5 Article 191 of Ukraine’s Criminal Code) and money laundering (Part 3 Article 209).

Investigators established that he by prior agreement with the chairman of OJSC Agrarian Fund’s board and top managers from Brokbusinessbank misappropriated Hr 2.069 billion from OJSC Agrarian Fund in February 2014.

Prykhodko was appointed first deputy governor at the NBU in December 2012. Prior to the appointment, he was director of the treasury of Ukraine’s Oschadbank.

In March 2014, he became deputy governor at the NBU.
