The Central Election Commission (CEC) is going to appeal at the Higher Administrative Court of Ukraine against the cancellation of its decision to recount votes at 16 polling stations of election district No. 50 (Krasnoarmiysk, Donetsk region), CEC deputy chairman Andriy Mahera said.

He reminded that Kyiv Administrative Court of Appeals had canceled the CEC decision on recounting the votes due to a complaint from Yevhen Heller, a self-nominated candidate, who gained the majority of the votes in the district (39.54 percent) and left his closest rival Leonid Baisarov 6.67 percent behind.

“Only the decision by the Higher Administrative Court of Ukraine will be final and will have to be executed, regardless of what it will be,” Mahera said.
