You're reading: Chaly says Kyiv not intending to abandon anti-terrorist operation

Diplomatic efforts to settle the situation in eastern Ukraine do not mean giving up the anti-terrorist operation, Ukrainian presidential administration deputy head Valeriy Chaly said at a briefing in Kyiv on Aug. 27.

“The anti-terrorist operation is the issue of our sovereign right to defend our country. And if attacks by terrorists exist, then our army should defend the people,” Chaly said.

According to the administration deputy head, diplomatic efforts will help to reach a bilateral ceasefire in future. “But serious work must be done for this,” he said.

“Unfortunately, this isn’t done in one day,” Chaly said.
